Emily and Gabe engaged~ Iowa wedding photographer Carisa Keeling

Posted on July 30, 2011

Emily and Gabe braved a very warm July evening for their Love Story session. These two are so adorable together and their smiles are simply infectious. We used a variety of locations including the Iowa State campus and some locations in downtown Ames. This gave them a lot of variety in their images. They were so great to work with and I can’t wait to share their wedding which I had the pleasure of photographing for them this fall. Congratulations Emily and Gabe and thank you for allowing me the opportunity to create these images for you.

My little peanut is 4!

Posted on July 25, 2011

Little Miss A is such a sweet and gentle soul! She is such a lover, always giving hugs and kisses. When her little brother teases and won’t hug mommy she will come over and give me a big hug: “I love you Mommy!”…so cute! She has forgotten all about her little issue of not wanting to have her picture taken…now she is a little diva! There have been several clients that met my sweet little girl and have posed for a picture or two with her. She is charming, smart, loving and did I mention sweet yet? I am so proud to be her mommy!

These images were taken to make her birthday invitations with. We had a cute little cupcake party at the Ames Cupcake Emporium since we were so close to our big move. I’ll try and get another post put together of the images from there as well. Everyone had a great time, there was a lot less stress involved having it some where other than our house. I think that may become a tradition!

My baby turns 2!

Posted on June 30, 2011

It just does not seem possible that my little B is already 2 years old. Actually, when I write this he is 2 and a half…but I am a bit behind in my blogging! Yikes. The family gathered for a fantastic afternoon of presents, cake and ice cream goodness. I do think he had a wonderful time and it was pretty obvious that the tricycle from Grandma B and Papa D was the show stopper present. He loves that thing! By next spring he will hopefully be able to reach the peddles! Big sis had a great time as deputy chief present opener…she kind likes to boss her little brother around! Oh, and that fantastic looking cake…was made by Allie over at Simply Delish! She does an amazing job and her stuff is simply divine tasting!

In a few weeks I will be sharing the images from the newborn session too.  In fact, these clients will become regulars on the blog as they are the newest members of my Little Ones program.  If you are pregnant I invite you contact me for more details on this program.  It is a fantastic value, but more importantly, it is a wonderful way to document all of the changes that occur so quickly in that first year.

Well, my little baby boy is one now.  Actually, he was one last month…but with wedding season I haven’t had a chance to breathe, let alone blog his birthday party.  I just had to share these shots from his big cake smash.  He had a great time.  We ordered his birthday cake from the crew at Devil’s Food Desserts here in Ames and it was fabulous!  The did a wonderful job and the cake was absolutely delicious as well.  I highly recommend them for any special occasion.  Ava is still trying to decide what to have hers look like.  She will be three before I know it!

So, this post is really more for personal stuff.  Some of the pics are even more snapshots.  But I really want my clients to get to know me a little bit, and seeing my kiddos (and my wonderful hubby, that’s Rob in the last shot) are a HUGE part of my life.  An occasional appointment has been rescheduled to take him to the doctor, but I think you all will think he is worth it.  He is definitely one cute little kid…and that is not just his biased mommy talking.

Be watching for his one year portraits as I will be bloggin’ them soon.

This is wonderful cake from Devil's Food Desserts.

The cake was so yummy!  It was half chocolate and half white with raspberry buttercream icing in the middle and vanilla buttercream all around the top.  The frosting had a rich, creamy texture and it smashed VERY well as you can see in the next images.

He was a bit tentative at first...

It was straight to the bathtub for him, his sister and his highchair! I even had to hose off the new deck :)

Mary and Ryan ~ engaged!

Posted on April 14, 2010

Mary and Ryan chose to do an engagement session in two locations.  We started at Brookside Park in Ames and then headed to the Main Street District.  The great part about this is that they get such an amazing variety of looks and images and it doesn’t take a whole lot of extra time.  It was a bit chilly when we did these, but they were very cooperative.  I will be doing their wedding photography coming up soon too.  The wedding is in June and will be held at St. Patrick’s in Imogene, Iowa with a reception to follow at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center in Omaha.  After an engagement session like this I can’t wait to do the wedding shoot!  Hope you enjoy the pics.

This was cute, and funny. I told Mary if she was going to grab the tie she had to put some attitude into it. She did...for about 10 seconds and then burst out laughing.

A maternity session ~

Posted on April 14, 2010

I recently had the opportunity to capture some images of Genya.  Maternity shoots are such a fabulous thing to do.  So many pregnant women feel bloated and huge and just plain uncomfortable when they get to those last few weeks of a pregnancy.  What better way to document how beautiful, precious and amazing this time is than with a special photo session.  Genya and her husband Dan live here in Ames and are expecting their new arrival any time now.  I am especially excited as they are the newest members of my Little Ones program, so they will be back 5 times over the next year to document all of the changes that their little one goes through.  My Little Ones program is a great way to freeze so many details…and at a great price point too.  Be sure to inquire if you are interested and I can send you some additional information.  And now for some images!

Ava and Blake~Ames Portrait Photographer

I have been striving for that perfect image of my own two little ones.  You would think as a photographer this would be easy for me, but I have found that photographing my own children is a particularly difficult task.  I am pretty happy with the outcome this time though.  It is amazing, the kids are growing so quickly.  Ava is over 2 and a half now and Blake is 8 months.  I am also testing out a new posting method as I put all of the images into a collage prior to uploading this time.  You will see these images again as I am going to be ordering a large gallery wrap collage using some of these portraits and I can’t wait to share that with you too.

Little Aubrey turns 1~Ames Iowa Portrait Photographer

Posted on March 12, 2010

This is little Aubrey, isn’t she the cutest little thing.  She has the most amazing blue eyes!  Her mommy and daddy are former wedding clients of mine, and now I have gotten to take her portraits too.  I LOVE it when I get that type of opportunity.  I am really hoping to start doing more family and children’s portraits this year, and so far I am off to a decent start.  Keep your eyes peeled, because soon there will be newborn pictures to share!  I am planning two newborn shoots right now and I can’t wait.

Such a serious little one.

I really liked part of this series in black and white. There is just something about the simplicity of a black and white that really gets me.

Isn't she just a precious little diva. And those blue eyes...just adorable.

Many of you know, I am a sucker for the vintage feel. Something old is new again.
